On Medication

When you are ill you may get constipation, due to:

  • the illness itself
  • stress and anxiety about your health
  • not eating or drinking enough
  • a side-effect of medication (for example, opiate analgesics, anticholinergics such as drugs for Parkinsons disease, supplements such as iron, and some antidepressants)

You should not be afraid to seek help from your doctor, nurse or pharmacist as there are many types of constipation remedies available and some are based on natural ingredients.
