Holiday Constpation
Constipation on holiday is the last thing you need, but it is a fact that over half the people who suffer from constipation say it is caused by being away from home.
This may be due to:
- a change in diet
- a change in daily routine
- unfamiliar surroundings and toilet facilities (dubbed 'safe toilet syndrome')
- dehydration
- long periods sitting down while travelling
- a change in environment which can prevent you from relaxing and functioning as normal
If you suffer from constipation when at home, you may find you're particularly likely to get it when you go away. Knowing this, you can try to avoid problems by thinking ahead:
Of course this isn't always possible, particularly when all your meals are prepared for you, or if you're in a cramped passenger seat, so you may also decide to pack a gentle constipation remedy . These will probably be available at your holiday destination, but just to be on the safe side, you could pop some in your bag before you leave to make sure you have a trusted familiar remedy on hand.
